Where can I get more information?
We run webinars throughout the year for organisations and volunteers. Whether you're new to Go Volunteer Glos or just wanting to find out more we have a range of interesting topics to suit everyone. The sessions will also be a great opportunity to meet other organisations and/or volunteers and quiz Emma, our Go Volunteer Glos manager, on all things volunteering!
To book please email [email protected] and do check back as we'll be adding more dates and topics.
Who ‘owns’ Go Volunteer Glos?
Go Volunteer Glos was founded by the Gloucestershire Volunteering Collaborative. The Collaborative is a group of representatives from the local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector, health, local government, employers and employees, police, and fire services, along with volunteers themselves, working together strategically to improve the way volunteering works in the county.
The Gloucestershire VCS Alliance has kindly agreed to host Go Volunteer Glos for us, managing it on a day-to-day basis.
What does Go Volunteer Glos do?
Go Volunteer Glos is a website designed to allow organisations across the county to post their volunteering opportunities and volunteers to easily find opportunities that interest them. Go Volunteer Glos aims to make Gloucestershire the best county in the country in which to volunteer! As the digital home of volunteering for our county, over time we want to add more information, resources, and tools to help everyone involved in volunteering.
FOR VOLUNTEERS
FOR VOLUNTEERS
I can only volunteer for a limited time or occasionally, are there still roles for me?
Yes of course! Every opportunity is different. Some opportunities will be a regular commitment, and some will be just day or a few hours. You can use the filters on the ‘search for opportunities’ page to find opportunities that best match your requirements.
I have found a role I like, how do I apply?
Once you have found your opportunity, click the ‘Join’ button and it will take you to an application designed by the organisation that is seeking a volunteer. Every volunteer opportunity has a contact person. If you want more information before applying for a role, you can click on the ‘ask xxxx a question’ link to start a conversation with the contact person.
What is the volunteer pool?
Joining the volunteer pool allows organisations to contact you when they have opportunities that match your interests. To join the pool, you create a full profile and list the types of opportunities you may be interested in. It’s a great way to ensure you don’t miss out on the perfect opportunity for you!
How will you keep my data safe?
At Go Volunteer Glos, data confidentiality is very important to us. Please read our privacy policy here.
How do I unsubscribe from emails?
If you no longer wish to receive emails from Go Volunteer Glos, you can do this by amending the settings in your profile, see here for more information.
FOR ORGANISATIONS
FOR ORGANISATIONS
We do not have a logo or image for our organisation, but we need one to register on Go Volunteer Glos. Can you help me?
Go Volunteer Glos aims to support all organisations or community groups of any size. Simply contact Emma for support in finding the right images for your organisation.
I need volunteers for a one-off event, is it possible to post these too?
Yes! This is exactly the type of volunteer opportunity that many volunteers are looking for. When creating the opportunity, simply amend it to suit the length of your event.
We usually ask volunteers to fill out an application form. How will this fit in with Go Volunteer Glos?
How volunteers apply for your opportunities on Go Volunteer Glos can be completely tailored to your organisation’s needs. You can add in your application form, so volunteers fill it out directly on the website. If you prefer, you can simply ask volunteers to put their contact details and then complete your application using your own methods. For more information on adding an application form, see here.
I am not getting emails when volunteers apply, how do I change this?
This can be updated in the settings on your personal profile, as opposed to the organisational profile. See here for more information.
We usually advertise on our Facebook page and our own website. Will we still be able to do this?
Yes, definitely! When you create an opportunity, there will be a ‘Share this’ button and you can link the role directly onto other social media channels and websites. See here for more information.
