Summary

As a Trustee you will help shape the strategy of the Community Connexions charity's accessible transport for the most vulnerable across Gloucestershire.

Detailed description

At Community Connexions we are passionate about ensuring that as many people as possible in our Gloucestershire community, irrespective of their personal circumstances, can access the necessary transport to meet their daily needs. We provide safe, accessible transport for people of any age who have difficulty getting out and about and who are unable to use conventional public transport due to age, mobility or health issues or are socially or rurally isolated. Our services include door-to-door, home to school, day centres and patient transport together with community bus routes across the county.

To provide this service we have an excellent team in our office in Barnwood, Gloucester who work with the Board of Trustees to ensure the ongoing success of this critical service.

What will you be doing?

  • Working alongside your Board colleagues to make important decisions about the future direction of Community Connexions.
  • Identifying ways to ensure that we maintain and develop top class, transport services working within the parameters that regulate the organisation.
  • Draw upon your personal life experience, or professional area of expertise, to provide insight on specific matters.
  • Participate in projects along with your fellow Board members and the Community Connexions professional team – e.g. volunteer recruitment, marketing campaigns, policy development, social media support.

What are we looking for?

  • We are interested in hearing from individuals with a range of skills and life experience but would particularly welcome applicants with experience in one or more of the following: Transport, Information Technology, Local Government, Business, Finance, Charitable Sector, Social Media.
  • We are also very interested in applications from our current service users, their family members or others who have some  knowledge of the services we provide.
  • People who represent the community in which we live and the people we serve – we are interested in applicants who might bring  a different perspective; from younger age groups, different community groups and people with varied ‘life’ experience.
  • A passion for supporting some of the most vulnerable in our community and making a difference to their lives.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and a curiosity to explore new ways of delivering a great service.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills; people who are happy to make an active contribution to the Board discussion and to get involved in key projects.

How can you make the difference?

  • As a small charity we aim to achieve an enormous amount with limited funds - we do not have large budgets or resources to implement many of our activities.
  • So as a team we need to be resourceful and pro-active in finding ways to offer the best possible service. By working together as a diverse group of Trustees with wide ranging expertise and experience, we know that we can continue to offer this vital service.
  • These are volunteer positions but we are able to reimburse reasonable expenses.
  • By offering your experience and expertise to a key county wide community service, you will a feel sense of real achievement and will be integral to the decisions we make.
