Join Our Team: Become a School Governor at Chesterton Primary School!

Are you passionate about education and community involvement? Do you have skills and experiences that you believe could make a positive impact on the future of the school? Chesterton Primary School is looking for individuals to join its Local Governing Body and contribute to its mission of 'Growing Together, Learning Forever'.

About Chesterton Primary School: Located in Cirencester, Chesterton Primary School is a vibrant community of 200 pupils, including a preschool nursery and a Communication and Interaction Centre. Led by Headteacher Libby Pringle, the school is deeply committed to nurturing independence, developing personal resilience, and instilling a well-rounded, positive attitude in their pupils.

A member of The Corinium Education Trust, Chesterton Primary School is committed to providing academic excellence and enhancing life chances for all their pupils. The Local Governing Body plays a crucial role in supporting and challenging the leadership team to achieve these goals.

What Do School Governors Do? As a school governor, you will offer strategic guidance to shape the future direction of Chesterton Primary School.

Your responsibilities will include:

·      Collaborating with fellow members of the Local Governing Body to plan the school’s strategic direction.

·      Providing support and challenge to the Headteacher

·      Challenging existing processes to drive school improvement.

The Local Governing Body of Chesterton Primary School meets 5 times a year. Meetings are scheduled for 2 hours from 17:30-19:30 on Thursdays. All members of our Local Governing Bodies are also expected to attend The Corinium Education Trust’s governance training events three evenings a year.

Why Join Us? Becoming a school governor is not only a rewarding opportunity to give back to your community but also offers numerous professional and personal benefits, including:

·      Career development opportunities.

·      The chance to make a tangible difference in young people's lives.

·      Networking with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds.

At Chesterton Primary School, we welcome individuals from all walks of life and value the unique perspectives and skills they bring. You don't need to be an education expert to make a difference—your passion and commitment are what truly matter.

About Corinium Education Trust

The Corinium Education Trust is a growing multi-academy trust, currently made up of four schools: Cirencester Deer Park School, Chesterton Primary School, Kemble Primary School, and Siddington C of E Primary School. In 2024-25, two additional primary schools will join and we are excited to open a new primary school in September 2026, serving the families of The Steadings, a new residential development in Cirencester.

Each school within the Trust has its own Local Governing Body, and we are looking for committed individuals to join us as school governors.
