Summary
Dr Jenner's House has been awarded as a "Place of Science 2024" by the Royal Society to develop our education outreach programme.Detailed description
Dr Edward Jenner discovered vaccination here in Berkeley in the 1790s. His family home “The Chantry” has been run as a museum since 1985 and is managed by the Jenner Trust.
This is an exciting time for us as we are applying for UNESCO World Heritage status and a substantial Lottery Fund grant.
We have a range of education offers for school age children, designed in collaboration with the Pandemic Science Institute in Oxford. This year we have been awarded as a “2024 Place of Science” by the Royal Society to develop our education outreach programme. We are looking for a Trustee with a background in school age education to join our team.

About Dr Jenner's House
We care for Dr Jenner’s House, the Berkeley former home of pioneering country doctor Edward Jenner. It was from here that Jenner told the world about the world’s first vaccination, starting a revolution in the way we think about protecting ourselves and others. Now we open Jenner’s beautiful house to visitors, groups and schools so that we can tell the human story of vaccination and inspire the next generation of vaccine scientists.
