Summary
We have several skiing & non-skiing roles for any volunteer (Age 16+)Volunteering with standing (ambulant) skiers.
Detailed description
We need volunteers to assist our instructors with standing (ambulant) skiers.
Many of our ambulant skiers need `buddy' skiers to help them follow instructions from our coaches. Similar to how we learned to ski, by following and copying others (skis & boots supplied by the ski centre, free of charge).
You will need to work closely with our instructor and skiers, utilising many types of simple pieces of equipment (cones, coloured flags, even large foam hands!).
This position requires dexterity and a good level of fitness.
You will need to be able to adapt to our skier's wide and varied abilities.
All our opportunities can be covered by skiers, at any time during the day, if you so wish, depending on volunteer availability.
You will receive training in all areas.
For the one day each month we operate at the dry ski slope, we separate our day into three sessions, to allow our skiers an hour and a half each:
1) 10:45 am until 12:15
2) 12:30 pm until 2pm
Lunch - 2 pm until 2:30 (You can buy food and drink at the ski centre)
3) 2:30 until 4pm
