Summary

We are looking for Trustees who can share their interest in disability and help us to help people with disabilities to move forward

Detailed description

We Are Seeking New Trustees!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Trustee for Gloucestershire Disability Fund.

·      Who are we looking for?

Someone who has an interest in helping people with disabilities to move forward

Someone who has the time to attend our meetings

Someone willing to take part in and contribute to our discussions

Preferably someone with experience of or an interest in disability - either directly or indirectly

No experience as a Trustee? We will help you learn the ropes.

·      Who are we?

Briefly, Gloucestershire Disability Fund is a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee.

We are a grant-giving charity whose purpose is to support people living with a physical, sensory or learning disability living in Gloucestershire by helping them through life’s challenges.

Our team of Trustees, some of whom have a disability, aim to award around £100,000 in grants each year to individuals and organisations.

We do not fundraise. Our income is derived from our investments.

·      How much time will it involve?

As a Trustee, we ask you to attend the following meetings:

Ø Committee of Management meeting (generally every 3 months – sometimes with cakes)

Ø Grants Committee meeting (held monthly for 11 months)

Ø Annual Strategic Review

Ø AGM

All meetings are held during the daytime in Gloucester and generally last 2 – 3 hours, with the exception of the annual Strategic Review, which lasts all day and is held elsewhere (with lunch provided).

·      What will I need to do?

Attend meetings on a regular basis.

Actively engage in discussion, debate and voting in meetings – contributing positively, listening carefully and challenging sensitively

Maintain confidentiality

Complete a DBS check

·      What we offer you:

This role is voluntary, therefore unpaid, but we are able to pay reasonable expenses

The opportunity to join lively discussions and debates

The opportunity to take on specific responsibilities (but not right away)

Knowing that you are helping to “make a difference”

Trustee Indemnity insurance

Trustees are appointed for a period of 3 years, after which they can be re-elected to serve a further 3 years. There is no limit on the number of times a Trustee stand

Still Interested?

We would love to hear from you. Please contact us and one of our Trustees will get back to you.

Meanwhile, if you would like more detailed information about our work, please have a look at our website.

We look forward to hearing from you.
