Are you interested in family history? If so, then Gloucestershire Family History Society is for you! GFHS is a charity run entirely by volunteers, and there are roles for people with a variety of skills and experience. Being a volunteer for GFHS gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet people with similar interests and enjoy a sense of achievement.

We are currently looking for people to volunteer for a few hours a week in our Family History Centre. Volunteering in the Family History Centre involves helping and supporting members and visitors by:

  • assisting them in their genealogy research;
  • guiding people through our wide range of resources;
  • taking payments for printing, books and donations (not all need to do this)

About Gloucestershire Family History Society

We are a very active Society, over forty years old, with over 1,000 members based not just in Gloucestershire but across the UK and worldwide. Our well resourced Family History Centre is based at the Heritage Hub in Gloucester and is staffed by volunteers who are on hand to help visitors to our Centre research their family history. We produce a quarterly journal for our membership, and offer monthly online talks on a variety of subjects.
