Summary

Volunteer as little as 15 minutes per day and help fight food waste in your local community.

Detailed description

Good Food Cheltenham need your help to run the new community fridge at Planted Community Cafe in Charlton Kings. Planted is a plant-based cafe, loose food refill shop and community hub.

This is a micro-volunteering opportunity, in other words, just 15-30 minutes of your time is needed.

The community fridge will be stocked with excess food, donated by local people, organisations and businesses. Anyone can donate and anyone can take, which includes you!

By volunteering your time, you’ll also get to meet some lovely people and be a part of creating something sustainable and communal!

So, what do we need you to do?

Community Fridge Assistant activities are as follows:

  1. Daily fridge temperature checks + log.
  2. Wipe clean the outside and inside of the fridge door + log.
  3. Dispose of any rotten fruit or veg into the compost bin (provided).
  4. Wipe the scales area and check there are forms and pens.
  5. Ensure the paperwork from the day before is put away in the folder.
  6. Check signage and posters are secure and in the right place.

All in all, these tasks should take between 15-30 minutes per day.

The fridge rota will be managed by email and WhatsApp so you must have access to these channels. Full training will be given and all volunteers can help themselves to any of the vegetables, fruits, and herbs in the fridge.

The fridge will launch on the 29th November and volunteer training will take place during the first 2 weeks of December.

We look forward to hearing from you!
