Summary

Can you spare some time to help us to prune the orchard in the Clock Tower Park?

Detailed description

Can you spare some time to help us to prune the orchard in the Clock Tower Park? Pruning these community trees helps them to stay healthy and fruit better, which means more apples and pears for us all to share!

If you would like to join us (even if you've never pruned a tree before), we meet in the orchard by the tennis courts. Please bring thick gloves and tools (loppers, secateurs or pruning saw) if you have them, but we do have some extras if not.

About Green Abbey

Green Abbey: green spaces in Abbeydale and Abbeymead and the surrounding area. We are a network of people living in Abbeymead, Abbeydale, Barnwood and Coney Hill, who are interested in growing in appreciation for the fabulous green spaces that are dotted through our residential area. Events are one of two things: sometimes a work party such as the pruning of the Clocktower Park apple trees, and sometimes a community event, such as the annual Big Butterfly Count. We have strong links with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and with the council green spaces team and are connected with the urban wildlife project, also with the friends of Barnwood Arboretum and Saintbridge Pond. We hope to grow in neighbourliness as we meet both the people and the creatures that share our home.
