Summary

A wonderful free to attend, fundraising event for our local community, held on the first May Bank Holiday every year.

Detailed description

Hawkwood provides a multitude of fulfilling volunteer opportunities that enable you to make a meaningful difference while enjoying a range of enriching experiences. By volunteering, you can connect with others, have fun, develop new skills, maintain an active lifestyle, and contribute to your community's well-being.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of our May Day Festival, a celebration of local flavors, live music, engaging talks, diverse stalls, creative workshops, and entertaining family activities.

This event encapsulates the essence of Hawkwood, so come and contribute to the success of our May Day Festival by volunteering as an event steward. Activities include helping in our café, assisting with car parking, or providing support at our welcome desk to name but a few.

The day will be busy and full of excitement and as such we are asking for your help from either 9:30am - 2pm or 1pm - 5:30pm in exchange for tea/coffee and a Lunch voucher.

We know that your time is precious and if you are not able to offer one of the periods above, we would still be super grateful for your help for a 2 hour period between 9:30-5:30 in exchange for a tea/coffee and cake voucher.

About Hawkwood

Hawkwood is set in a beautiful, sustainably run estate, As a charity, we bring together people and organisations from many backgrounds in support of creative endeavour, a flourishing community and a sustainable environment. We aim to encourage people to make a considered difference to today’s society and to our future, and our place provides an ethical, peaceful and inspirational environment to enable individuals and organisations to grow and develop. Hawkwood has identified four key areas which represent our charitable objectives.

A Place to Grow
Providing online courses and events, as well as on-site both residential and non-residential courses in the arts, music, wellbeing, future-thinking and transformative leadership.

A Place to Create
Providing artists from local, regional and national arts organisations with support and full board and lodging to create work.

A Place for Conversation
Providing events, talks, and films addressing the pressing issues of our time to inspire people to make a difference, as well as providing a venue for forward-thinking organisations.

A Place to Explore
Providing a dynamic, open and free environment where everyone can reconnect with nature and themselves through hands-on exploration, away from the pressures of normal, busy life.
