Summary
We are looking for a range of skills related to the business and premises aspects of school life as well as interests in curriculum, teaching and learning.Detailed description
Governors work together with school staff to identify the ambitions for the school, steer direction and monitor progress and outcomes. They are focused on teaching and learning but also on the business management aspects of school life.
We meet as a board once near the start of each of the school terms and will usually be a member of either our Teaching and Learning or Resources Committee who meet once, prior to each of the board meetings.
Committee meetings are for identifying actions and recommendations for the governing body and are better informed and more efficient if tasks and reading has been completed beforehand.
Governor tasks are taken on voluntarily but as a minimum we expect governors overseeing subject areas to collaborate with teaching staff prior to meetings to ensure information can be provided to the board. Governors are also encouraged to make school visits, see the school in action and build relationships with staff and pupils for rounded perspective in their work.
As well as governors we have a range of opportunities and offer volunteers support, flexibility and opportunity to be involved in our friendly, lively school through our 'Friends of Meadowside' team and more casually in roles around the school.
There is full detail about our school, its volunteering opportunities and how to apply on our website under our 'Staff and school family' pages.
