Art Sales Co-Ordinator

Do you have a few hours a week to spare? Some of the role can be done remotely but in-person availability is needed for things like stock counting, meeting with artists and presentation of display cabinets.

We're looking for someone with accurate record keeping skills, an eye for stock presentation, confidence with numbers and good people skills.

Planted is a not for profit community project run by sustainability charity Vision 21 with our partners Poco Culina, Charlton Kings Parish Council and a team of volunteers. We have 2 glass cabinets, card stands and other areas around the cafe where we display local art and craft for sale. The commission from this helps us raise money for our charity and community projects like Planted.

We currently have 10-15 local artists and makers we work with but are open to showcasing the work of more local makers. We have a focus on sustainability so natural and sustainable, upcycled or plastic free materials and packaging are a key requirement. Most of our items are things like greetings cards, wood, glass, paper, ceramics, cotton fabrics.

Art sales are recorded (at present) by our volunteers on a sheet by the till but there would be potential to add barcodes for products/sellers or implement your own systems for recording sales.

You would be responsible for:

• Stock presentation of the cabinets and keeping stock topped up
• Communication with local artists & makers who sell with us
• Attracting new artists and maintaining a good flow seasonal items
• Keeping records of stock incoming, missing and sold
• Calculating commission and money owing to artists (using a spreadsheet template)
• Stock checking at least once a month

There is also potential to help us organise craft fairs if this is something that is of interest to you.

This is an unpaid voluntary role.
