Role Summary
The Public Relations Executive is responsible for managing media relations and public communications for Pride in Gloucestershire. This role ensures positive representation of the charity in the media, fostering strong relationships with press and stakeholders while amplifying the charity’s mission and events.
Duties
- Develop and execute public relations strategies to promote Pride in Gloucestershire’s events and initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other communication materials.
- Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interviews.
- Coordinate with the Head of Marketing to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Monitor media coverage and provide regular updates and reports to the marketing team.
- Support events by managing press attendance and coordinating media activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify stories and achievements to share with the media.
Qualities Needed
- Strong commitment to the organisation, with excellent judgement and integrity.
- Proven experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
- Excellent writing and editing skills to craft compelling press materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with media and stakeholders.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to managing tasks.
- Understanding of branding and messaging strategies.
- Experience in event-based PR is desirable.
General Requirements
- Be available for approximately 10 hours per week, with additional time during events.
- Be able to use Microsoft Teams and email communication effectively.
- Act independently of any other interests and declare any conflict of interests.
- Not have any convictions for fraud or dishonesty, never to have been made bankrupt, or disqualified from acting as a company director or charity trustee.

We believe in a fair society where all LGBTQ+ people can achieve their full potential. We aim to promote awareness of LGBTQ+ issues by providing information, education and entertainment in a safe and welcoming environment. We are dedicated to campaigning for progress and acceptance for our whole community.
We hold an annual Pride event and Parade in Gloucester City where we invite our community and our allies to join us in celebration and reflection and a number of others events throughout the county.
