Summary
Volunteer at RSPB Nagshead to welcome visitors, share nature info, support activities, and help people enjoy wildlife in a beautiful reserve setting.Detailed description
The RSPB is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to support visitor engagement activities at Nagshead Nature Reserve, a beautiful and wildlife-rich site. This role involves welcoming visitors, providing information about trails, wildlife sightings, and activities, helping with nature-based experiences like pond dipping, and selling items such as pin badges and refreshments. Volunteers also help maintain the visitor centre by keeping it tidy, replenishing leaflets, and updating information boards.
Engaging with visitors both at the centre and out on the trails, you’ll play a key part in helping people of all ages enjoy their visit while promoting the RSPB’s conservation work. Volunteers may also help open and close the visitor centre and will never be expected to work alone—each shift requires two people and can be booked in advance.
The visitor centre operates from 11am to 3pm on weekends and Bank Holidays between April and September, and on Wednesdays during the summer holidays. The total volunteer period spans six months, and shifts are flexible—you can choose how often you volunteer based on your availability.
Full training and ongoing support are provided, but volunteers should be confident communicators and enjoy working with people. This is a rewarding role offering the chance to work in a beautiful setting, meet new people, gain skills, and be part of a passionate team.
Please note that due to safeguarding policies, applicants must be 18 years or older to volunteer at RSPB Nagshead.
