Have you had a stroke and are you looking to do something positive with that experience? We are recruiting Stroke Mentors for an exciting new project.Detailed description
Experiencing a stroke can be a life changing experience for many and can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, loss and helplessness. We are seeking a group of Stroke Mentors for an exciting new project in which you will work alongside recent stroke survivors to help them navigate the new world they find themselves facing.
As a stroke survivor yourself, you will provide much needed support and guidance, using your experience to scaffold someone in the weeks following their own stroke. As a positive influence, your own experience can become a lifeline for someone else.
You need to be:
- a stroke survivor yourself
- any age from 18 years old
- kind and patient
- positive in outlook
- resilient and committed
- able to provide weekly support for a block of 6 weeks
- able to undertake short training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
