Summary

We are looking for someone to support SVP Project Officers who lead groups with members who have additional support needs.

Detailed description

We are looking for someone who is interested in gaining experience working with adults with additional support requirements. Supporting our experienced project officers, you will assist other volunteers in carrying out food growing, gardening, and woodworking tasks. Volunteering groups take place on Tuesdays (woodworking) and Thursdays (food growing/gardening). The role can be shared with another volunteer.


  • We are looking for someone who is friendly and outgoing and enjoys working with people.
  • Who is interested in volunteering or working with people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Is interested in volunteering in conservation, wildlife, gardening.
  • A DBS check will be required which we will facilitate.
  • This role might appeal to a person looking to work in social care or with experience in social care looking to volunteer.


Outline of Main Responsibilities


  • Supporting Project Officers who lead groups with members who have additional support needs.
  • Meeting and greeting group members.
  • Demonstrating to group members how to do tasks if they need some help.
  • Supporting group members with their volunteer tasks
  • Taking part in volunteer activities
  • Providing social interaction.
  • Key part of procedures for dealing with an emergency, especially if PO must leave site for any reason; this would mean remaining on site with any volunteers with additional needs until they can be picked up or the PO returns.
  • Keeping Health and Safety considerations as the over-riding determinant and in all circumstances.
  • Driver with car who can get to sites independently and help with providing lifts to volunteers without transport.
