We're looking for casual volunteers to support us with our edible community garden in Sandford Park. We usually meet on a Monday at 6pm during the growing season (March - September) but are open to running volunteer sessions other days/times if we have enough interest.
Once you've signed up we'll contact you to confirm the next volunteering date and you can then come along to as many sessions as you'd like to.
About the role:
- Help us grow food and other useful plants for the community
- Support with regular tasks like watering, weeding, planting
- We also have a compost heap for seasonal pruning and clearing
- Learn new skills or share your gardening knowledge with others
About the project:
Vision 21 are a local environmental charity. Our volunteers have looked after Annecy Gardens for Cheltenham Borough Council since 2012 and use the space to grow food for the local community and enhance biodiversity.
- We showcase organic, peat free gardening & composting
- Provide edible crops for the local community
- Offer volunteering opportunities and skill sharing
- Link up with local groups for visits, events, swaps and demos
- Reconnect people to where their food has come from
Accessibility:
- Any children must be supervised by an adult at all times
- Most regular volunteering tasks involve standing, bending, light lifting and use of garden hand tools.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather with sturdy non-slip footwear and waterproof or sun proof clothing as suitable.
- We can also usually facilitate accessible garden visits if you let us know of any requirements in advance of your visit - but access to some activities may be limited due to steps and un-paved areas
- To avoid steps please enter from the High Street entrance
- There are a number of benches available, access via a few steps
In Feb/March 2025: There will be optional one off opportunities to help us assemble metal shed, raised beds and fill them with compost.
