Summary

We're looking to recruit three new volunteers to join our charity's board of trustees at a time of transition and opportunity where you can have real influence.

Detailed description

Please click Join to apply, and we will send you a full Trustee Recruitment Pack.

Vision 21 is a volunteer-based organisation with over 250 active volunteers working across Gloucestershire to deliver a wide variety of projects or activities. We encourage anyone who thinks that they have the vision, drive, clarity and competence to consider making an application. We’re looking for bold thinkers, who can work collaboratively and imaginatively with others to create greater levels of sustainability throughout our county.

As Vision 21 moves into its 4th decade, we are seeking people who have a passion to develop sustainable communities and to move the charity forward. We are looking for individuals who want to make a difference to people’s lives, raise awareness of the dangers of Climate Change and become actively involved in the development and delivery of Vision 21’s initiatives, projects and events.

THE ROLE OF A TRUSTEE

1.    To be part of the governing board of the charity

2.    Act as an ambassador for Vision 21 and, in partnership with the executive team, provide a public face for the charity where appropriate

3.    Provide leadership within the Board and for the Charity

4.    Where possible, support other Trustees to fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity

5.    Liaise with the staff team and key volunteers

TYPE OF PEOPLE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking to appoint Trustees who want to actively contribute to and improve our communities and our society as a whole via a commitment to Vision 21.

We are seeking people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are willing to put time and effort into the development of the charity or into specific projects. We hold a minimum of 8 Board meetings per year including our AGM and these meetings usually last 1-2 hours. Ideally, we would like our Trustees to do more, by contributing to project development and assisting at events.

We recognise that life experience is just as important as business experience, so we welcome people from all walks of life into our organisation. We currently have 6 Trustees, but 3 need to step down, so we are looking to recruit replacements and 3 additional Trustees, which will increase the size of our Board to 9.

We want people who are passionate about protecting the planet, our society and our communities who are keen to work and give hands on assistance to the governance and development of the organisation. Tenures are usually a 3 year appointment, but they may be extended or shortened subject to Board agreement.

WE ARE PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN PEOPLE WITH:

·      Fundraising experience, who have the expertise and time to prepare grant bids

·      Project management experience

·      Voluntary sector or governance experience

·      Marketing experience

·     ICT Experience

We would also like to encourage applications from anyone with varied life experiences, so if you do not have to have any of the specific technical experience outlined above, you may still possess the attributes we are seeking so please apply. In this way we ensure that our Board has empathy and focus which enables it to be both effective and efficient.

Want to know more? Apply now and we'll be in touch with a trustee recruitment pack by email to tell you more about the role, our charity and projects.
